## Every retainer includes

**Building.** We start with the work costing you the most and put a working version in front of your team early. Building is how we learn your business, so it never stops.

**Running it.** The people who built your system keep it running, fix what breaks and change it as your team asks. The same people, every time.

**R&D and frontier tech.** We build with new AI tools every day on our own products, then tell you which ones are worth adopting and which are noise.

**One team.** Product, engineering and AI together, instead of three vendors or a senior hire.

**You own it.** The code or platform setup and the notes on how it runs are yours, in your own accounts.

## Questions about pricing

**Is this the same as a fractional CTO?**

Close, and broader. A fractional CTO gives you part-time technical leadership. We bring that plus the team that builds and runs your systems: product, engineering and AI together, on the same monthly retainer.

**Is there a minimum term?**

No. The retainer runs month to month. What keeps it going is the work: each month builds on what the last one taught us about your business.

**Why a retainer and not a fixed-price project?**

Building is how we learn your business. Every week we build, we understand your workflow better, and that knowledge builds up in the people running your system, so each change lands faster than the last. Software also keeps changing once people use it, so a fixed scope agreed up front is usually out of date by the time it ships.

**What sets the price?**

Scope: how many systems we run for you and how much new product work sits on top of them. After a first call, we come back with a monthly figure, and we agree it with you before we start.

**Do you take projects outside the retainer?**

Yes. Other projects, such as a one-off build, are priced case by case. Tell us what you need and we will quote it.

**What is not included?**

Software licences, such as Jira Service Management, are billed to you directly by the vendor. You own the accounts and pay what the vendor charges.

**What currency do you bill in?**

Yours. We bill in Canadian, New Zealand or US dollars, whichever your business runs on.

**Do I own what you build?**

Yes. The code or platform setup and the notes on how it runs are yours, in your own accounts.
